Harbin Fair (International China Harbin Fair for Trade and Economic Cooperation)

The 19th Harbin Fair will be hold between June 15 to 19, 2008 at Harbin international conference and exhibition center. Harbin Fair is the biggest trade fair held in Harbin, Northeast China. It is only second to Canton Fair and East China Fair in scale and influence. Every year, hundreds of overseas companies and thousands of domestic companies will attend this trade fair, especially companies from Russia, Japan and Korea, as Harbin is connected or close to these 3 countries.

Harbin Ice Festival

The 24th Harbin Ice Festival or Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival was open on Jan 5th, 2008 and just ended on Feb 5th, 2008. The 25th Harbin Ice Festival will open on Jan 5th, 2009.

Brief History of Harbin Ice Festival
The Harbin Ice Festival was started in 1985. It is held annually on Jan 5th, and last for a whole month. Harbin is the capital of Heilongjiang Province, which is coldest province in Northeast border of China, so Harbin is also recognized as ˇ°Ice cityˇ±. Snow and ice is in the blood of Harbinese.

The main activity of Harbin Ice Festival includes: Snow and ice world(theme park) built up on frozen Songhuajiang river; snow sculpture exhibition displayed in Sun Island Park, ice lanterns exhibition in Zhaolin Park. Other than that, sports and culture activities like winter swimming, ice hockey, soccer, skiing, speed skating, ice sculpture, ice photography, ice wedding ceremony, ice & snow cinematics festival etc will also be held during the festival.
