Taiping International airport
Harbin Taiping International airport is about 30 kilometer
and 50 minutes drive away from urban area of Harbin. There
are flights to most of the major cities in China and neighboring
countires such as Russia, Korean and Japan.
There are shuttle buses between the airport and civil
avication building at No. 99 Zhongshan Road, departing
every 30 minutes, the bus ticket is 20RMB. It will cost
you about 100RMB to take a taxi from Harbin to airport
or from the airport to the urban area.
People usually book air ticket from ticket agents which
can get extremely low bulk price from airline companies.
Normally you can get a discount aranging from 20% to 100%
depending on the flight route and departure time(peak
or off-peak). Ticket agent will deliver the air ticket
directly to your address with an extra charge of 10RMB.
Somet ticket agent will send you to airport for free.

Harbin Railway station
Harbin Railway station is located at Tielu street. The
railway network is developed extremely well here, you
can reach most part of china and Heilongjiang province
by taking a train. There 4 type of tickets: hard seat,
soft seat, hard berth and soft berth.
The following bus route have a stop at Harbin railway
station: 6, 7, 11, 13, 14, 16, 21, 28, 58, 64, 74, 81,
88, 89, 101, 103, 107, 108, 109, 115, 336, 338, 343.
Normally you can buy the train ticket in one week advance,
and you can also buy ticket from ticket agents(no discount
though), if you buy from ticket agent, the ticket will
be delivered to your address. For peak season such as
spring festival, National day holiday, Labor day holiday,
it is hard to buy a train ticket.
Taxi
It is reported that the cost for first 3 kilometers
will rise from 8 to 9RMB in 2008 due to oil price increase.
After first kilometer, the price is RMB1.9/kilometer.
It is adviced to request invoice from the taxi driver
when you pay, as first the invoice can be used as evidance
if the passenger are going to file a complaint. Second,
if you left any belongings in the taxi you can use the
invoice to trace them back.
